When you drive up to the hotel, you start to feel important. Doormen are there to accompany you and your luggage, and the concierge all take note of their new guests with a smile and a hello. The Art Decco Hall and marble floor leads to the grand old staircase which you must take a picture of. Either from the bottom looking or from the top looking down. Checking in is seamless, and you are shown to your room. Your luggage follows shortly afterwards.
The rooms have recently had a refurbishment, and the final floor is nearing completion, all smart, crisp and clean. The bathrooms have a had a makeover too.
If you have kids, the pool is great fun, and is one of handful of heated outdoor pools in the area. Poolside service is the same as the hotel\'s - faultless.
It takes getting used to room service calling to do your room, and then calling again in the evening to turn down your bed, and leave a little something. we had a bottle of wine on arrival, followed by chocolates (probably due to Easter), large still and sparkling water, and a small bottle of still water each night.
The Spa treatments are awesome - shame they only last an hour - it goes too quickly. Recommend the Serenity.
The fitness suite has everything you need for a work out especially if you want to burn off some of the excess food and drink. The TV on the gym machines help you watch something while working out. I even played mah-jong while cycling for an hour!
Breakfast is something to behold. It\'s basically eat as much as you want, but most people are sensible. You will see some families with eyes bigger than their stomachs leaving plates of food but generally it\'s very good. Tip - dress up for breakfast. Don\'t do shorts tee shirt and flip flops, you can change into those afterwards.
If you\'re not used to paying for sun beds you\'re in for a surprise. On the Z-Plage (The hotel\'s private beach) you can pay the most to be on the pontoon, then the first row on the sand, the cheaper seats are in the back. Waiters hover unobtrusively providing you with food and drink whenever you want it. More importantly you feel extremely safe.
The beach has good changing facilities, and an excellent restaurant. Food is not cheap, but quality never is.
The bar area is a convivial meeting place, with Kir and Cocktails flowing. Eating out by the pool side for a snack, or in the restaurant under the cloudless skies is made even more special by the illumination of the hotel and its palm trees.
Service is superb, and staff extremely friendly. A nice touch is the staff name badges, and the flags showing the languages each one speaks. The only exception is Fabrizio - Head Concierge in his cream three piece tails. He has a gold badge, and speaks to everyone in every language. If ever you need anything, need information or just an umbrella, Mr Fabrizio and his team fail to disappoint.
Overall a fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable hotel - will be returning again.
